Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin launched the 'Pudhumai Pen' scheme at a function in Chennai in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Mr. Kejriwal inaugurated 26 schools of excellence and 15 model schools which the Tamil Nadu government has modeled after its AAP government in Delhi.

Under this scheme, all girls studying from class VI to XII in government schools will be given ₹1,000 per month until they complete their graduation, diploma and ITI courses.

In Thoothukudi, Minister Anitha R. Radhakrishnan presented debit cards to 383 students in the presence of District Collector K Senthil Raj.

The scheme aims to benefit six lakh girls every year and has allocated Rs 698 crore in the budget for its implementation.

Stalin also said Rs 25 crore will be allocated to Bharathi Women’s College for constructing new classrooms and developing infrastructure facilities.
