The Rajasthan government on Friday will launch a 100-day employment scheme for needy families in urban areas on the lines of Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme MGNREGA.

More than 2.25 lakh families have already registered for the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Scheme, proposed by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

Launched on September 9, the project will deal with environmental protection, water and heritage conservation, garden maintenance, removal of illegal sign boards, banners etc.

Those who are between 18 to 60 years are eligible for this scheme not below 18 years Interested families will get 100 days of employment

The scheme will be implemented in all urban local bodies from September 9,” said a local self-government department official.

The state government has allocated Rs 800 crore for this project. The in-charge ministers of the district will launch this scheme in their respective areas.
