LPG cylinder for Rs 500 in Rajasthan: The Rajasthan government will provide 500 cooking gas cylinders to people living below the poverty line and enrolled in the Ujjwala scheme, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said today in a big-ticket announcement ahead of next year’s assembly elections. The chief minister announced this in the presence of senior party leader Rahul Gandhi. In an implied criticism of the BJP, he said his government would provide 12 cylinders a year to each of these families at less than half the price.
“Right now I am preparing for next month’s budget, I just want to say one thing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given LPG connections to the poor under the Ujjwala scheme, but the cylinders are now empty, (cylinders). Prices range from ₹400 to ₹1,040,” Mr. Gehlot said. “I would like to say that under the Ujjwala project we will supply 12 cylinders per year, at ₹500 each,” added Mr. Gehlot.
