‘Bollywood’s Hanuman looks like a Musalman’: ‘Boycott Adipurush’ trends on social media: After “Lal Singh Chadha” and “Brahmastra”, another Bollywood movie has run into rough weather, with “Boycott Adipurush” trending on social media days after its teaser was released. Om Raut’s film “Adipurush”, stars Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon, and Sunny Singh. However, just a few hours after the release of the teaser, netizens started criticizing the film for Saif’s “Islamic” look, the VFX was unflattering and the outfits of the other cast were also targeted.
Why such chaos with Hinduism?
Ramananda Sagar’s serials from “Ramayana” to “Adipurusha” are being compared to Lord Hanuman. Actor Devdatta Gajanan Nage is playing the role of Hanuman in the film.
Netizens claimed that Hanuman’s appearance in the picture resembles Islamic dress. One tweeted, “Bollywood’s Hanuman looks like a Muslim #boycottAdipurush.” Another wrote, After 35 years, Nardama transforms the ‘beauty’ of Bollywood swagger Raavan and Hanuman Ji into Mughals.
“Hanuman in Ramayan. Musalman in #Adipurush, Note: No Hindu keeps a beard without a Moustache. This film should be banned… They are slandering our Ramayan. They are showing Ravana and Hanuman with beards as Mughals with no Tika on their foreheads,” added one.
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra on Tuesday reportedly expressed his displeasure over the depiction of deities in the film. Mishra says that Hanuman is shown wearing leather clothes while his appearance is clearly described in the Hanuman Chalisa.
Prabhas ‘Adipurush’ is in trouble for one more reason, as a petition has now been filed in a Delhi court to stop its release. The petition alleged that the religious sentiments of the people had been hurt. Amidst all this, the demand for a boycott of the film has been raised on Twitter.
“Adipurusha” is a retelling of the Ramayana. Prabhas’ character is called Raghava, another name for Lord Rama. Saif plays Ravana and Kriti Sanon plays Janaki (Sita). The film is said to have been made on a budget of over Rs 400 crore.
